Detailed itinerary

08:00: Meet at the meeting point in downtown Beijing and board the bus for a scenic 1.5-hour drive to the Mutianyu Great Wall.

11:30: Hop on the shuttle bus to ascend the mountain and begin your self-guided exploration.
16:00: Board the bus and settle in for a comfortable ride back to Beijing.
17:30: Arrive at the downtown meeting point, concluding the day trip
Frequently Asked Questions
If you stay overnight in Beijing, then 8am departure is the best. If you travel from another city and arrive in morning, having a tight schedule, then 9am departure is suggested. It's very hot and humid in summer time (June/July/August), earlier departure will avoid the humidity in summer.
The guide will give you a presentation for culture and history of the Great Wall on bus. He/she will also instruct you how to walk the Great Wall and answer all your questions. He/she will not escort you up to the Wall.
The best season is Autumn in September/October, then Spring in March/April/early May. It's very hot and humid in summer (June/July/August), however the green scenery also is stunning. Winter in November/December/January/February is chilly cold, you have to prepare well at this time. Occasionally there're snows in winter, it will be very slippery on the Wall.
